Where your settings actually come from, and why that difference is the whole point.
Ask a chatbot for camera settings and you'll get an answer, confidently written, and sometimes confidently wrong. When you're standing in front of a wave that's about to break, "sometimes wrong" isn't good enough. So Shutr Scout doesn't guess.
Under the hood, Shutr Scout runs a calibrated exposure engine, a set of real photographic rules, built and tested by photographers, that turns three things into a complete recipe: your exact camera and lens, the actual light you measure, and your priorities for the shot. It does the exposure math, respects your body's real limits (sensor, ISO behavior, shutter range, stabilization), and hands you settings you can trust.
This is the quiet superpower of an engine over a chatbot: it's deterministic. Put in the same camera, light, and subject, and you get the same reliable recipe every time, not a slightly different one because the wording changed or the model was feeling creative. There's nothing to hallucinate. For a beginner who needs to rely on the answer in the moment, that consistency is everything.
A chatbot is a brilliant generalist that improvises. An exposure engine is a specialist that calculates. For "what settings, right now, for my gear," you want the specialist.
