Pricing
No subscription for the app, and no feature locked behind a paywall. Buy Shutr Scout once and use it on every camera you shoot.
Price in USD, shown for the planned launch and subject to change. One-time purchase for the app, no recurring charges except the optional Learn More add-on.
The one optional extra
The app is yours with one purchase. Learn More, the optional AI explainers and composition tips, is the only feature that runs on our servers, so it's the only thing with an ongoing cost.
Try Learn More at no cost. Read the plain-language explainers and composition tips, and decide if they're for you before paying a cent.
If you want to keep it after that, it's about five dollars a year, roughly what it costs us to run. Everything else in the app stays a one-time purchase, forever.

How it compares
Cheat sheets and light-meter apps each do part of the job. Shutr Scout is the one that gives you complete settings for your gear and the actual light, in the moment.
| Capability | Static cheat sheets | Light-meter apps | Shutr Scout |
|---|---|---|---|
| Knows your exact camera + lens | – | – | ✓ |
| Reads the actual light in front of you | – | ✓ | ✓ |
| Gives a complete settings recipe (not just a reading) | – | – | ✓ |
| One-tap fixes that keep your look | – | – | ✓ |
| Video & DJI drone settings | – | – | ✓ |
| Built for beginners | ✓ | – | ✓ |
| One-time price, no subscription | ✓ | – | ✓ |
A general comparison by category, we don't call out specific products. Cheat sheets are generic and can't meter; meter apps give a reading, not a recipe, and often charge yearly.
Pricing FAQ
No. The app is a one-time $19.95 purchase and every feature is included. The only optional recurring item is Learn More (the AI explainers & composition tips): your first 10 are free, then it's about $5/year if you choose to keep it. Nothing else is behind a subscription.
Everything that makes the recommendations: the full on-device engine, all 13 settings for your exact gear, every subject, Quick Fixes, video, drones, Apple Watch, and Save & Share. Learn More only adds optional explanations and composition tips, the settings themselves are always included.
It's the one feature that runs on our servers to generate plain-language explainers, so it has a real per-use cost. We keep it optional and cheap (10 free, then ~$5/year), so you only pay if you use it, and the rest of the app stays a clean one-time purchase.
No. One purchase covers every camera, lens, and drone you shoot, switch gear as often as you like.
